1993 Ducati Supermono for $150,000

You haven’t ever heard of a single-cylinder racing motorcycle that Ducati has made in the nineties? No wonder, it s made only 67, and all were made just for the runway.

From the pen of Pierre Terblanche which packaged the combined engineering and technical know-how of Massimo Bordi and Claudio Domenicali came out absolutely exotic bike, the Supermono.

Motorcycle was introduced in 1993 with the 550cc and it was a four-stroke, water-cooled engine with electronic fuel injection. This engine is 75 hp liberating it is, with a weight of 118 kg and a typical style of Ducati’s superior suspension components, enough for 124mph. In 1993 the runner had cost $30,000.

In order to balance the engine Massimo Bordi ingeniously left a dummy con-rod in place that was attached to a weighted and pivoting bar, meaning that the Supermono had perfect balance as the extra con-rod moved up and down to overcome vibration issues, allowing the single to behave more like a twin at higher revs. For some the sexy single will forever remain as Ducati’s true design masterpiece.

The bike is in Denmark and comes with all the relevant spares included. The seller would consider a trade-in. Advertised on Car and Classic the Supermono for now costs £100,000 ($150,000).
