Bentley and Estede Unveil Limited Edition Sunglasses

Bentley, in collaboration with Austrian eyewear company Estede, create a line of sunglasses inspired by Bentley’s cars. The sunglasses have been designed in conjunction with Bentley’s design team in Crewe and have knurled temples matching the interior of the cars and curves inspired by the exterior of their cars.

Bentley-Estede Sunglasses

The Estede for Bentley collection features precious metals – silver palladium, 18 carat gold and, most exclusive of all, platinum, which Estede claims has never before been used in eyewear – and innovative surface treatments mirroring Bentley’s quilted leather upholstery. These aviator-style shades will be available in two sizes, and come in a presentation box with interchangeable lenses for varying activities. Plus as a further customization, each set can be engraved with owner’s name and / or Bentley model number.

Just before the Geneva Motor Show, Mercedes Benz have unveiled images of their latest concept car, F800 Style. Announced to be the sedan of the future, the F800 Style research vehicle has rear doors with a sliding mechanism. And thanks to a swivel arm design, the car does not spot any door rails on the outside, giving it a clan look when the doors are shut.

Mercedes-Benz F800 Style Concept Car

The F800 Style features a bold front-end with new radiator grille with the centrally placed brand star, generously curved air intake openings, LED lights and grey metallic ALU-BEAM color tone. Plug-in hybrids and fuel cells. Mercedes calls it a multi-drive platform, and the F800 Style is built to take both hydrogen fuel-cell and plug-in hybrid powertrains, with the former offering a range of 375 miles and the latter allowing for 19 zero-emissions miles. Because Mercedes has managed to shrink the size of its F-Cell (fuel cell) componentry, the F800 can squeeze the fuel cell or plug-in hybrid powertrains into the engine compartment and (says Mercedes) the gaps within the chassis. And there’s still room inside for five.

Aspiral Clock

The Aspiral Clock is a new type of clock developed by two London-based tinkerers, Will Aspinall and Neil Lambeth. The clock consists of spiral system that slowly rotates. A small ball is the indicator of time and as it reaches the center i.e. 12 o’clock, it falls through a hole and pops right back out at the beginning of the outer most ring.

The observer can tell the time by looking at the position of the ball. If it’s at the center point between 2 and 3, for instance, then it’s 2:30. The initial prototype was built out of beer cans and other scrap, and was a far cry from this polished product, which is hand built to order in London.
