Leica X Vario is digital camera in retro chassis which will certainly appeal to many nostalgic photographers. The new camera, which was unveiled by famous Leica company, whose brand is synonymous for the history of photography and 35mm film, until recently wore codename Mini M, and now comes under the full name Leica X Vario.
This compact camera has 16.2. Megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor, and comes in a housing made of aluminum and magnesium, which is covered with leather and the entire design is made so that brings back memories of legendary Laica cameras, some of whom belong to the fabulously expensive collector specimens.
As far as optics, Vario X contains a fixed Vario Elmar 18-46 mm zoom lens (or 28-70 mm in 35 mm format), coupled with the aperture of f/3.5-6.4 and ISO 100 to 12.500. The camera has also a 920 k-dot LCD screen, and offers the ability to record 1080p and 720p video at 30 fps.
From 11 June you can find Leica X Vario in stores, and if you are one of the fans of this legendary German brand and want to afford X Vario, be prepared to pouring out $2,850. Interestingly, the first copies were ordered by professionals photographers who obviously want to complement their Leica camera collection.
