This year, Jacob & Co. celebrates its 30th anniversary. To mark this decade of innovation and audacity, the house is launching a Grande Complication watch model with a sporty style in keeping with its expertise and youthful vigor of the thirty year-old company. A world premiere, the Twin Turbo combines two triple-axis tourbillons and a minute repeater. Through a poising system, the tourbillons maintain a consistent rate set at 40 seconds, 3 minutes and 8 minutes per cycle so as to turn symmetrically at a similar pace.
With a deep-sounding and resonating chime, the minute repeater with a cathedral gong offers a modern approach to striking the hour – 10 minutes instead of the traditional 15 minutes in watchmaking – and the minutes. A safety
system is also in place to prevent its striking during time setting.
A rarity for a Grande Complication, the two tourbillons and minute repeater are housed into a uniquely shaped watchcase equipped with 63 components. Its sporty look combines titanium and carbon in its exterior, providing ultra lightness. Inspired by an automotive design, its flange is trimmed in red neoralithe and the smoked sapphire crystal opens onto its impressive motor featuring two triple-axis tourbillons.
The transparent case back reveals an abstract architecture of triangles in openwork metal. A symbol of stability, spirituality and determination, this motif, dear to the founder Jacob Arabo, is an icon of the house of Jacob & Co. We can only hope that this beautiful model with black alligator leather strap with titanium buckle will adorn our wrist one day.
