Patek Philippe’s 40th Anniversary Nautilus Collection

Comment(s)
Patek Philippe celebrates the 40th anniversary of its now iconic Nautilus line. Especially for that occasion, Swiss luxury brand created two anniversary watches – one in platinum and one in 18-karat white gold. Both models feature stunning blue dials and have all of the signature details of the Nautilus, including the bold size and lateral ridges on the sides of the case.

In the original timepiece launched in 1976, those lateral ridges were designed on the porthole shaped case to resemble porthole-locking hinges. Today, they are a defining character of the Nautilus line. Each of the new timepieces also features an 18-karat gold dial in dark blue emanating from the center of the dial out toward the case and getting slightly lighter. Each dial is inscribed with a notation that recalls the 40th anniversary: “1976 – 40 – 2016.”

Additionally, both of the timepieces hold the Patek Philippe Seal. The Ref. 5711/ 1P Nautilus is offered in a limited edition of 700 pieces in platinum, with each retailing for the unusual sum of $113,440. The more complicated Ref. 5976/IG Nautilus Flyback Chronograph in 18-karat white gold retails for a slightly more affordable $96,390.
