China’s New Attraction: 50 Km Floating Walkway

In order to attract tourists, Chinese from the northwestern province Guizhou set on the Hongshui River floating walkway. The walkway is a staggering 50 km (54,000 yards) long and covers an area of 543,000 square meters (13 acres). It is made of individual interlocking plastic blocks and held in place by anchors spread across the structure. The promenade is decorated with trees and thousands of colorful lamps, and at night tourists are treated to a dazzling display, including an impressive firework show.

Floating Walkway

The floating platform is equipped with entertainment facilities, so visitors can take part in water sports, including the use of jetpacks powered by the river which shoot tourists into the air. In this part of China is promoting the winter tourism since the average air temperature is higher than in other parts of the province. Over 60,000 tourists flock to the area since opening on New Year’s Day.
