Luxury watchmaker Richard Mille, which has sponsored and worked with Rafael Nadal since 2010, has unveiled its latest collaboration. New RM 27-03 exhibits not only mastery in watchmaking but also the assertive character of the nine-time winner of the French Open. Built to tolerate Nadal’s whipping strokes, its tourbillon caliber can withstand forces of up to 10,000 Gs – a new threshold for the watch industry.

And it weighs only 34 grams. Aside from the more robust movement with its attractive new V-shaped base plate and bridges unusually made of Carbon TPT, what really takes the spotlight is the bright two-tone case coloring replicating the colors of the Spanish flag in honor of Nadal’s home country.

The case is crafted in TPT Quartz, while the striping effect comes from impregnating fine layers of silica with tinted resin that are practically microscopic. This process is proprietary to Richard Mille in conjunction with partner North Thin Ply Technoloy (NTPT). The tennis ball-shaped crown, also created using Quartz TPT.
The case also boasts water resistance of 50 meters, an advantageous strength/weight ratio, anallergic faculties as well as high UV-ray defense.

Having developed several high-profile timepieces with Richard Mille, Nadal is to wear the RM 27-03 during the Roland-Garros. Produced in only 50 pieces, the watch bears the sticker price of $725,000.
