Ganimede – 110m Yacht Concept

The Italian duo Fincantieri Yachts and Hot Lab have joined forces on a new 110-metre superyacht concept called Ganimede. According to the Greek myth, Ganymede, the most beautiful of mortals, was abducted by Zeus, in the form of an eagle, and brought to Olympus to live with the gods. So, from Greek mythology to the sea: the Ganimede concept is based on ethereal, timeless beauty deriving from a combination of zoomorphic shapes inspired by the eagle and how it was represented during the Art Deco and Rationalist period. The characteristic shape of the bow recalls the deliberately stylised profile of an eagle’s beak. This theme also appears, in a more or less obvious way, in the interplay of the full and empty spaces that make up and characterise the shape of the decks and windows. The outdoor area set aside for the owner has a large private lounge that connects the two prism-shaped pools, set like precious gems in the hull. The helipad can be furnished and converted into a recreation area for the owner. The aft section of the main deck, which is very narrow and features zoomorphic stylistic elements, becomes a terrace that shields part of the beach club from the sun. The yacht is boarded via the beach club – over 20 metres long – that calls to mind a kind of monumental garden. It connects with the main deck by means of a stately spiral staircase, decorated in a typically Art Deco style and positioned in the centre. The pool is flush with the deck and has a waterfall, reminiscent of the typical water features of an Italian garden. The inspiration behind all this becomes even more apparent by observing the perfect symmetry of the whole. And now few figures: the 4,250 gross ton yacht will feature a length of 113 meters and a width of 15.7 meters with 6 decks. Besides the owner’s suite, there are six staterooms for 10 guests. The yacht also has a capacity for 31 staff across 20 crew cabins and will be able to reach a maximum speed of 19 knots.
