Rare, flawless 102-carat white diamond in London is expected to fetch a world record price when it goes on sale at Sotheby’s in London this month.
To be a very precise, the 102.34 carat rock, the size of a large strawberry is cut from a stone mined in Botswana. The cutting process took over six months and required the diamond to be transported between Johannesburg and New York. It is expected to demand well over $US33 million or more than $320,000 per carat.

The current record holds a 163-carat oval diamond sold in Hong Kong in 2013 which fetched $260,000 a carat, but Sotheby’s, which also handled that Hong Kong sale, expects the smaller stone’s rarity and high quality will see it attract an even higher price.
The diamond is available for private collectors to buy and is on display at Sotheby’s New Bond Street Galleries, in London.
