Tsunami really caused panic and served as an inspiration for this futuristic floating capsule hotel, launched in Japan at the Dutch-themed park, Huis Ten Bosch, in Nagasaki.
New spherical hotel is designed to protect guests in the case of a earthquakes and tsunamis. One floating capsule can accommodate two or three persons, with its first floor designed as an accommodation cabin and second floor an observation dome. There’s also a small outdoor deck where you can go to gaze dreamily at the star-filled sky as you bob up and down on the water.

“It’s really comfortable there inside and if they can keep food, bring in some food by themselves, I think they can easily stay for one week or two weeks,” said Shioji Tahara, the hotel’s concept designer.
Huis Ten Bosch will start trials of the spherical capsule this month with an eye to beginning the service this summer. The company plans to have a ship tow the hotel between the theme park and a nearby island.
