Morrison Bowmore has launched a new variant of its Auchentoshan Scotch whisky brand. Virgin Oak has been aged in new-fill North American oak casks. With a deep orange colour, the expression is said to have an aroma of cinnamon, nutmeg and candied orange, and notes of spiced apple, chocolate caramel and maple candy on the palate. The expression is available as a limited edition. The company did not detail how many units will be released.
Auchentoshan brand ambassador Gordon Dundas said: “Auchentoshan is one of the few distilleries to produce a virgin oak single malt. The lightness of the triple distilled spirit makes it perfectly suited to absorbing the unique qualities of the charred virgin oak casks. The result is in a lowland whisky that subtle as well as complex in nature.” This Limited Edition Auchentoshan Virgin Oak Whisky will cost you around $100. Earlier this year, Morrison Bowmore updated the packaging for its core Auchentoshan Scotch brands Three Wood and 12 Years Old.
