More luxurious than its predecessor, the new Cadillac CTS Sedan continues with the direction of the company design, which is trying to combine the best of art and science. One of the peculiarities of the new Cadillac, or “American Mercedes” is the design of front and rear lights, which together with LED technology make it very interesting.
Designed to be more agile than the outgoing model new CTS comes with the advanced magnetic suspension system used on the previous CTS-V performance model, as well as adaptive cruise control, emergency brake assist, collision alert, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitor.
The interior, which is very similar to the ATS and XTS models, is characterized by lavish display CUE info-system touch screen and digital instruments that look like analog, high-quality, soft-touch materials, various leather choices, as well as authentic wood, aluminum or carbon-fiber trim. GM’s signature OnStar system features a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, and an available 20-way power adjustable driver’s seat.
Except for the new look, CTS model year 2014 will get a new engine. It is a completely new 3.6-liter V6 twin-turbo aggregate with 313 kW/420HP and 583 Nm of torque (88 kW per liter), which makes it the most powerful V6 engine ever from GM. The engine is mated to a 8-speed automatic, and Cadillac CTS (with rear-wheel drive) accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds, and of achieving the maximum of 170mph. There will be also a 3.6-liter V6 with 321HP and 373 Nm and 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 272HP and 400 Nm, both optional and with 4×4. The new CTS is normally for 127 mm longer than its predecessor (now 4966 mm), and has a 30 mm longer wheelbase, but is 25mm lower.
