Omega Constellation Double Eagle 4-Counters Orange Gold

Timepieces commemorating the sport of golf are not new. One name that echoes in every mind on the mention of timepieces celebrating golf is the Omega Constellation Double Eagle series of watches. This year, the popular line has been extended with the introduction of the new 18kt orange gold case model.

Like all of the gold used in OMEGA’s products, orange gold is 18 Ct, meaning that the metal is composed of 75% gold. It has a high copper content (nearly 24%) which contributes to the vivid colour. There is also a trace of platinum which enhances both the hardness of the material and the value of the precious metal.

1810 Skull Pocket Watch

The watch we’ve got to show you today is a little different than usual. The watch we have today is what’s known as a Memento Mori, loosely translated as remember you must die. It is a phrase used to describe a whole range of objects that were designed to remind their owners that life was fleeting, like the passage of time.

Dating from around 1810, the Skull Wwatch is crafted in 18K gold and studded with diamonds set eyes and teet. Designed in the shape of a miniature skull with hinges, this pocket watch tells the time when you peel back the upper dome of the cranium.

Parmigiani Bugatti Super Sport Watch

Last Friday (August 13, 2010) Parmigiani Fleurier launched the car inspired Bugatti Super Sport Watch. A super watch made in conjunction with the world’s fastest production car, the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport. Developed by Parmigiani, the Parmigiani Bugatti Super Sport is an evolution of the Bugatti Type 370 watch collection. Featuring a new Parmigiani calibre PF 372 movement, the watch has a curved tear drop shaped lug, which is finished in black and sparks of orange the watch comes with a partial carbon fiber dial with a 10-day power reserve and 10-meter water resistance.

The Super Sports Watch marks a departure from the usual Parmigiani aesthete as the design team behind it introduced several innovations that are unique to this particular model. First, the shape of the wrist watch allows for two clock faces marked in orange. One clock face is set at a diagonal angle and another sits above it for those cursory glances at you wrist. Both clocks only display hours and minutes.

Limited Edition Bell & Ross BR 01-92 Compass Watch

Bell & Ross unveils yet another limited edition timepiece, the BR 01-92 Compass, designed to re-imagine an aircraft’s cockpit, similar to its other watches. A similar version of this watch was actually previewed a couple of years ago at Baselworld.

Taking a design cue from the Vintage Collection, the BR 01-92 Compass draws its inspiration from yesteryear aviation navigation instruments in that the watch keeps time via one fixed point at the top of the dial. Instead of two hands moving around a dial, the BR 01-92 Compass has two dials that move around a single hand (i.e. a fixed point).
