Picchiotti 50m Exuma Superyacht

Perini Navi Group, one of the world leaders in the construction of luxury yachts, has proudly announced the official delivery of their first motor yacht unit of the Vitruvius series. Exuma is the first of three units sold presently by the Perini Navi Group under the new Picchiotti brand. Philipe Briand, naval architect and designer of the Vitruvius concept is the brain behind the Pichiotti 50m Exuma. Built in aluminum, Exuma is characterized by streamlined, slender lines and follows the principles of the BOS Hull (Briand Optimized Stretched Hull) that allows to enjoy a gross tonnage of 497 tons, displacement of 400 tonnes, a reduced draught of 2.3 meters for navigating even in shallower waters, and a range of 5,500 miles at 12 knots.

Her interior is an exquisite display of warm and sophisticated natural woods and the finest Italian marble alongside a layout which was designed for true comfort at sea. The bridge deck with its large glass doors is home to the helm, the captain’s office and the pantry, a spacious saloon with a luxurious L-shaped sofa, a coffee table, armchairs and an entertainment area. The deck also houses chaise-lounges and boasts of an accessorized Jacuzzi with integrated banquette.

An elegant glass sliding door in the main deck paves the way to the main saloon. Embellished in natural oak, brushed oak, grey leather, natural teak flooring and Italian marble and large windows that offer panoramic views, the main salon is truly the ultimate relaxing space. The lower deck houses the two VIP cabins and one twin cabin with ensuite bathrooms. Besides these cabins, the Exuma boasts of three double cabins with bathroom for the crew, a Captain’s cabin, a dinette, laundry room and a galley equipped with dumbwaiter serving the three decks of the yacht directly.

Luxury yacht Exuma was conceived and created with a strong aptitude for exploration in mind, and has the capability of stowing large amounts of equipment on board to allow exploring the most beautiful and remote areas of the world: an amphibious 16.4 ft vehicle, completely customised with Iveco Campagnola mechanical components and frame, a Hov Pod 12 ft hovercraft housed inside the two fore lateral garages with gull-wing door openings, two tenders, respectively measuring 21 ft and 14 ft, two electric land scooters, two Seabobs and a Sea-Doo RXT 250 jet ski. The yacht is also equipped with diving areas and equipment.

Two other Picchiotti superyachts belonging to the Vitruvius series are under construction, a 55m scheduled for 2011, and a 73m with delivery expected in 2013. The Perini Navi Group have announced that, now delivered, superyacht Exuma will now set sail for some of the most remote regions in the world.

It’s natural to assume that an 88 meter (289-foot) megayacht would feature plentiful guest staterooms. And you’d be right, if you were thinking about a project other than Orchid. This code-named concept collaboration between Luiz De Basto Designs and Lürssen Yachts accommodates just eight guests, with large windows in the four staterooms to take in the view. The designer and builder have kept the number down to increase the amount of space devoted to saloons, dining areas, alfresco spaces, and other entertainment and relaxation areas that everyone can use.

Designed on 2 levels, the Owner’s Suite, located on the Main Deck, is connected to the owner’s Lounge on the Upper Deck through a private stairway for a total 245 square meters. The traditional Pilot House windshield becomes now an outstanding private sight through which the owner can overlook the outside. The overall exterior design of the Lurssen’s 88meter SuperYacht is the most impressive of all. This six deck luxury motor yacht features beautifully consistent and fluid lines making her stand out wherever she goes.

Other luxurious on-board amenities include a large elliptical pool on the main deck, a spacious main salon, dining, a big theater media room, a red and white wine storage, a gymnasium and a spa. To top it all, the yacht even has a helipad. All the Orchid decks speak of Luiz De Basto‘s signature harmonious design, with every stateroom having large windows to ensures plenty of natural light. The intelligent design layout offers total partition between crew and guests. There are separated elevators for the guests and crew from the lower deck to the bridge deck.

Jongert’s 3900MY Aluminum Superyacht

Dutch shipyard Jongert launched MY Lucia-M, a 39 metres motor yacht type 3900MY. Lucia-M is the first motor yacht of these dimensions ever built by Jongert. The motor yacht line has been developed by the yard at the specific request of several customers who appreciate the design of the Jongert sailing yachts but prefer a motor yacht.

Jongert recently completed technical sea-trials of their first 3900MY, which exceeded their own expectations. Especially the way in which the yacht maneuvers, at all speeds, is remarkable. It’s unbelievable, says a spokesman of Jongert Shipyard. This yacht weighing over 200 metric tons maneuvers like a runabout. The sea trials were held on the IJsselmeer (the Old Dutch inner sea) and the North Sea.

The exterior and interior styling of this new semi-displacement yacht has been designed by Guido de Groot, and has been commissioned following the introduction of a preliminary design at the 2007 Monaco Yacht Show. The 3900 MY is the first vessel being built in the new series of Jongert motor-yachts, with Naval architecture by Azure Naval Architects.

Capable of speeds up to 28 knots and a cruising speed of 24 knots, the 3900 MY accommodates eight guests and six crew. She will be built compliant to RINA and MCA standards. 3900MY aluminum yacht is a typical Jongert. It combines the well known Jongert quality with excellent qualities and technical innovations like the glass-bridge and a monitoring system. And just like the 5200M, Jongert’s latest design in the sailing yacht line, the emphasis is on privacy, luxury, comfort and space. This motor yacht can be seen as the best in its class.

The glass-bridge, unlike a normal dashboard, integrates under ‘one sheet of glass’ all controls, data processors and all other instruments required to manage or control a boat. In a glass-bridge the various parts are built-in invisibly under a sheet of glass acting as a flat touch screen. The main advantage is that al control panels of the instruments have the same modern outline.

The yacht is equipped with several special facilities offering the owner a maximum of comfort and privacy. The yacht’s double master cabin is positioned in such a way that the craft’s entire 7.85-metre beam is used. A huge skylight, which can be electrically darkened, has been fitted over the bath in the master cabin. From his stateroom the owner has direct access to a gym and a steam bath in the forepeak. The semi covered flybridge offers a bar, a lounge and a sun deck. The ‘dodger’ roof above the flybridge is equipped with glass to keep the space a bright as possible, but also with blinds to protect against the sun. At the rear of the dodger roof is a sliding partition that can be placed over the sun deck as well.

Jongert has just listed this new aluminum 39-metre superyacht for sale on JamesList, slated for 2011 delivery with a price of between €17 million ($22 million) and €20 million ($26 million) depending on the final finish.

Environmentalists are smiling as many transport makers are ‘going green’ by manufacturing eco-friendly vehicles. The latest green project to receive the blessings of the green lovers is the Green Voyager, latest super yacht from Kingship.

Chinese yacht builder Kingship Marine will construct this 44m eco-friendly yacht, which is considered as the world’s first under-50m yacht to be built to Royal Institution of Naval Architects’ (RINA) Green Plus standards. Designed by Italian firm Axis Designs, the yacht is embedded with energy-efficient and sustainable features in every area, including heat reflecting glass, high efficiency insulation, heat recovery, heat pump clarifiers, gas treatment, ultra efficient props, bio lubes, and environmental operations manuals.

To lower energy consumption even further, the yacht has adopted the Siemens SiShip Eco-Prop system. The system is suitable for outputs between 110kw and 760kW, split between two propellers. Further Siemens even offers a combination of diesel-electric propulsion system and direct diesel drives. With the Eco-Prop system, an intelligent power management system (PMS) regulates the power supply fully automatically. The PMS system, allows the crew to vary the speed of the diesel motor so that it always runs at maximum efficiency.

Kingship is currently finalizing the design phase and will begin building Green Voyager in late 2010.

Roman Abramovich World’s largest yacht, Eclipse, is back in the news, but for all the wrong reasons this time. Russian billionaire is once again furious after experiencing the technical flaws in the testing the ship which are grave enough for the buyer to live with.

According to Danish site Pleasure, testing of the ship has shown several problems. For example, the vibrations from the diesel engine will have one billion Thorny crystal to shake, which also led to a smashed giant mirror on one of the ship’s nine decks.

And as if that were not enough, Abramovich also has some issues related to the animal fur upholstery on the chairs and the walls in massage room in a dispute with the shipyard on the ethics of the skins’ descent.

When you building the world’s most expensive yacht there no reason to save on anything.

Palmer Johnson Launch PJ-501, First in PJ 170 Superyacht Series

The first super yacht to be built at Palmer Johnson’s new building site at Hythe near Southampton has hit the high seas. The 170ft super yacht, currently dubbed the PJ-501, was built for a repeat client and is now headed off to the Mediterranean, where it will cruise for the coming months.

Keeping with the sleek looks and aggressive attitude of the PJ Sportyacht series the PJ 170 yacht PJ-501, is a bit longer that the earlier yachts. On the technical side, the yacht spots a first of its kind dual Gyro stabilizers to negate external fins that form beneath the waterline.

Meanwhile, two more PJ 170s are under contract, as Palmer Johnson is also building two 210’ Sportyachts for delivery next year along with a 135’ and the 82M PJ World yachts.

Moonen 133 Super Yacht Has a Submarine Onboard Able to Explore the Depths up to 100m

Moonen Shipyards have signed a contract for the Moonen 133, their biggest superyacht to date. Engineering on the 40m motor yacht has already begun for a repeat client, owner of a Moonen 84 and a Moonen 97.

The Moonen 133, which expected to be christened Sofia III, will have some unique differences compared to other superyachts her size. First, she will carry a submarine and will be the smallest yacht to do so. The two-person sub, from U-Boat Worx, will be stowed on the swim platform and launched via hydraulics; the platform will lower into the water, like a ramp. The Submarine will be able to dive up to 100m.

The Superyacht Moonen 13 will feature a luxury owner’s suite, plus 4 guests staterooms below deck. It will also feature a gymnasium that can be modified into an extra guest cabin if required. The Superyacht Moonen 133 will be able accommodate around twelve guests if utilising the gymnasium. The bridge deck will feature an alfresco dining area with open air design which is generally found only in larger yachts and becoming increasingly popular with many different clients.

The yard describe the Moonen 133 as ‘a cross-over of a cross-over’, blending rugged adventurous looks with modern superyacht stylishness and classic elements. She has a low profile, excellent sea handling performance and a very long range. The Moonen design team was responsible for the overall design concept, with Rene van der Velden adding his delicate touch to the styling. The owner has combined his wish for a larger yacht with a desire to stay within a length that allows access to small places. Her interior will be designed by leading Dutch, Art-Line Studios, working closely with the owner to make full use of the spacious Moonen 133 layout.

The Moonen 133, with a top speed of 14.5 knots and a range of 5,000 nautical miles at 9 knots, will make her public debut at the 2012 Monaco Yacht Show.
