The world’s leading auction house for firearms, edged weapons and military artifacts, Rock Island Auction Company presents three Premiere auctions per year. This May, the auction provides a wide variety of antique and collectible firearms manufactured by Colt, Winchester, Holland & Holland and more, but the highlighting of sale is a U.S. marked and inspected Colt 2nd Model Dragoon Revolver.
The Colt Second Model Dragoon Revolver was manufactured circa 1850 through to 1851 with a total of only about 2,700 produced. It comes with a military blue finish on the barrel and cylinder, a sturdy loading lever, trigger guard, frame and hammer and brass, square back, and brass back strap. The Colt 2nd Model Dragoon Revolver is expected to sell for between $150,000 and $225,000.
A rare gold plated, factory engraved Luger pistol made by Krieghoff Heinrich Gun Co is also one of the leading pieces at May auction. The piece is also fitted with a set of carved ivory presentation grips and is set in a custom walnut display case. The lavish engraving covers over 90% of the pistol, making it an incredibly rare and unique piece. It carries a presale estimate of between $50,000 and $100,000.
A Winchester Model 1886 50 Express Smoothbore Lever Action Rifle, which comes along a Winchester Arms Museum letter, which describes the piece as Rifle 50 Express, Octagon barrel, Plain trigger, Smoothbore is also up for grabs. This rifle is expected to sell for between $90,000 and $130,000.
