Exceptional works from the collection of French poet Jacques Dupin will go on sale from May 28 (Impressionist and Modern Art sale) to June 4 (Post-War and Contemporary Art sale), at Christie’s Paris.
Mr. Dupin, who died last October aged 85, as both a poet and an art dealer had a wide circle of friends, such as Miró, Bacon, Giacometti, American poet John Ashbery… Now, six of his friend’s works as a group will be offered on sale where expected to achieve between €7.1 million ($9 million) and €10.4 million ($13.3 million).
Alberto Giacometti – Tête noire
Among the works on offer during the Impressionist and modern art session held on 28 May 2013:
- Tête noire, oil on canvas, 1958 by Giacometti, certainly representing the brother of Alberto, estimated: €1,8 – €2,5 million ($2,3 – $3,2 million)
- Femme debout, bronze with green-brown patina circa 1947 by Giacometti with a dark tonality, estimated: €400,000 – €600,000 ($510,000 – $766,000)
- Femmes et oiseaux dans la nuit, by Miró, dated from 1970, oil and gouache on plastic, estimated: €500,000 – €700,000 ($639,000 – $894,000)
- Personnages, oiseaux, chien, by Miró, dated from 1975, pencil, China ink, wash tint and watercolour drawing, estimated: €200,000 – €300,000 ($255,000 – $383,000)
- Femme, oiseaux, by Miró, 1975, pencil, China ink and wash tint drawing, estimated: €200,000 – €300,000 ($255,000 – $383,000)
The works on offer for the contemporary art sale held on 4 June 2013 include:
- Painting March 1985, oil on canvas by Bacon, estimated: €4 million and €6 million ($5,1 million – $7,7 million)
