On the nose you’ll get rich aromas of punch of youthful sweet sherry, sultanas soaked in rum (yes, rum), light & sweet , some vinegar notes, given some time in glass, major cocoa and dark chocolate notes, some dusty papers whiffs and all being wrapped with sweet, albeit clogging, sherry. On the palate, the whisky balances the traditional sherry character with lots of oak and spices – cinnamon, sweet burnt demerara sugar, nutmeg, pepper. Sales Director Alistair Walker said: “We believe this is another GlenDronach gem where spices mingle with the richness of the fruit to give a hugely satisfying malt to be savoured slowly during special, quiet moments.

“We’ll continue to release our cask strength batches as long as this wonderful expression remains popular with consumers.”

Bottled at 54.9%, the GlenDronach Cask Strength Batch 3 is available for £52.45 (about $87).
