If you are looking for the perfect Western experience, look no further. The Smith Fork Ranch is a perfect place for it. With access to 1.3 million acres of the Gunnison National Forest and West Elk Wilderness, the ranch has a nearly unlimited and untouched outdoor kingdom.
There is so much to do, with horseback riding, fishing and archery taking up most of your time. Every activity includes a talented wrangler or guide who fit the activity to the skills of the guest. The fishing is also excellent, with big fish in the ponds and miles of unspoiled rivers teaming with wild trout. The guides knew where all the holes were, and just the fly to entice them.
The ranch’s sporting clay grounds, just a 10 minute drive from the lodge offers an elevated view of the postcard-perfect pastoral land of Saddle Mountain and Rocky Mountains. Completed last year, the sporting clay experience and grounds are state-of-the-art, featuring Beretta firearms, four Promatic Traps, and a handsome oak deck.
Every room is beautifully designed, much by the owner, who is in the design business. The common areas are well stocked with things to keep you entertained. Joe Cocker lives down the road and stops in frequently.
