The whole world is looking forward to Christie’s Geneva Magnificent Jewels auction considering there will find jewelry of Her Serene Highness Princess Gabriela zu Leiningen. Hardly anyone knows that her real name is in fact Begum Inaara Aga Khan and she was second wife of His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan IV. Throughout her life, a German born has acquired an impressive collection of jewelry, so all collectors can’t wait upcoming auction where will find 46 pieces which value certainly exceed $15 million.
Prestigious names of famous jewelery houses such as Cartier, Schlumberger, Boucheron, Tiffany & Co, and Van Cleef & Arpels are on this list.
The most important piece of the collection is the famous Pohl Diamond. Found as a 287-carat rough stone, this D colour gem was sold to Bernice Chrysler Garbisch of the Chrysler family in 1943, and acquired for the Princess at Cartier in 1998. It is estimated that the diamond could fetch between $3.8 and 5.5 million.
Also impressive is emerald and diamond necklace by Cartier, suspending a Colombian emerald of almost 40 carats with matching ear pendants en suite and will certainly fetch between $2.5 to 3.5 million. The Princess is often photographed wearing this jewelry at ceremonial dinners and receptions.
Pieces from Princess Gabriela’s collection will be presented to collectors worldwide at the Geneva Magnificent Jewels sale on 18 May, where, in her own words, she hopes they will ‘continue to bring joy and happiness to their new owners’.
