La Posta Vecchia is a luxurious resort, a mere 40 minute drive away from central Rome. It was was built in 1640 on Roman ruins, it offers extra-large luxury rooms with antique furniture. In 1960, the property was purchased by the American Industrialist Jean Paul Getty, who financed an extensive restoration program to restore the villa to its original glory. Getty furnished the building with precious artifacts which he had collected during his extensive travels throughout the world.

It was only after Getty’s death that the estate was transformed in exquisite 19 bedroom hotel, its rooms still adorned with priceless artworks and antiquities from the late millionaire’s extremely personal collection. La Posta Vecchia is set on the coast between Rome and Civitavecchia, overlooking the Mediterranean sea, and offers a free private beach with sun loungers and parasols.

Guests can relax in the hotel’s indoor swimming pool and Turkish bath. All rooms are very spacious and air conditioned. They come with free Wi-Fi, a minibar and a flat-screen TV with DVD player. Breakfast is buffet style and the Michelin starred restaurant, The Caesar, serves organic Mediterranean cuisine out on the terrace overlooking the sea. Price per night start at $588.
