British actress Lily James is the new face of Burberry in a sensual launch campaign for the fashion brand’s My Burberry Black fragrance. “The launch of My Burberry Black marks the next important step in the development of our beauty business as we continue to connect our fashion, fragrance and makeup collections,” said Christopher Bailey, chief creative and chief executive officer of Burberry. Inspired by the heritage label’s black trench coat and created by legendary perfumer Francis Kurkdjian, a new, sensual flanker My Burberry Black contains notes of jasmine at the top, with the heart of candied roses and peach nectar, and the base of amber and patchouli.
Shot by none other than Mario Testino, the campaign is also sensual and mysterious like the fragrance. The My Burberry Black campaign is James’ first global advertising campaign.
The shoot required nudity, which the actress says she tackled the same way she prepares for any role. “always warm up for a performance by doing yoga-type moves and occasionally going on an exercise bike,” James told. “I think I was in a good place fitness-wise when we shot the ad, and other than that I just sort of didn’t over think it to be honest.”
