This is definitely the best model so far.
Daniel Craig has returned to the stage and is gearing up for his most important, and according to the latest, release in the role of James Bond in the upcoming film No Time to Die, due out in April next year. Mr. Craig already got a trick up his sleeve. Introduced just a few days ago at an elegant dinner at The Standard Hotel in Manhattan, the new Seamaster Diver 300M 007 Edition watch is one of the biggest Omega releases for James Bond lately, with Daniel Craig participating in the design. The actor is said to be enthusiastic when it comes to watches, so he owns many other models besides those with the signature of the Omega brand.
“Being given an Omega watch to wear in a movie is quite a big deal anyway, full-stop,” said Craig during a press conference just before the party. His favorite Bond timepiece, before this one, of course, was the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M watch he wore in Casino Royale, which the brand gifted to him. “I thought that might be the last [Bond] movie I made, so I thought, ‘Ah! At least I’ve got a watch!’”
The 42mm diameter watch is made of Grade 2 titanium, resistant enough to survive any 007 mission. It’s strong and lightweight, and this time comes with a slimmer 13.15mm thick case. That profile is thinner than previous Seamaster models because Craig said he would like a watch that can fit under the sleeve of his shirt. Something that is good for overcoming bad guys during the day and wearing a tuxedo during the evening.
On the back of the case you can see engravings that emphasize the symbolism of this model. There is 007, as a symbol of Agent 007, then 62, which marks the year of the franchise’s inception, and A, which notices the crown that was screwed on. There are also real-world signals from the British Department of Defense – 0552 is the nautical code, while 923 7697 indicates that this is a MilSpec diving model. The dial and the back of the case carry a wide arrow, a symbol used to mark government-issued items, which hints at Bond’s role as an undercover agent.
Seamaster Diver 300 M 007 Edition comes with two different variable belts that are purchased separately. One is a strap of dark brown, gray and beige with 007 engraving ($8,100) and the other is a titanium mesh bracelet with an adjustable buckle ($9,200). Both watches will be available for purchase from February next year.
