24-karat White Gold Luxury Bathtub by Inax Corp.

INAX Corp, the company that has already shown us the Gold Plated Regio Toilet, has now unveiled a luxurious bathtub in Ginza, Tokyo priced at ¥7,927,500 (around $93,700).Covered in 10 millimeter tiles of white gold the design is supposed to enhance the bathing experience. It is currently placed in an open exhibition hall designed to mimic renowned Italian architect and designer Gio Ponti.

Toshiba 3D TV

Japanese electronics giant Toshiba plans to market the world’s First 3D Television that does not need special glasses later this year. Toshiba’s mobile display division has built the 21-inch auto-stereoscopic high-definition display using the same technology that will power Nintendo’s upcoming 3D handheld. The only difference is that Toshiba’s display uses it on much bigger screen real estate.

Company spokeswoman Yuko Sugahara confirmed such technology was in the works. But she declined to comment on a report in the Yomiuri newspaper that the Tokyo-based company plans to start selling the new TVs by the end of the year. Yomiuri said that Toshiba have a new system for their TV’s that emits a number of rays of light with various angles from the screen so that viewers can see stereoscopic images without glasses.

New York’s 15 Penn Plaza – Vornado rendering

City authorities on Wednesday approved plans to build a 67-floor skyscraper near New York City’s tallest structure, the Empire State Building, over objections from owners of the iconic landmark. The City Council Land Use Committee voted today in favor of Vornado’s roughly 1,200-foot, Pelli Clarke Pelli-designed 15 Penn Plaza, despite protests from Empire State Building owner Anthony Malkin that it would mar the city’s skyline.

But while New York, and the nation, are obsessed about whether a certain cultural center should go up in lower Manhattan, few noticed that the Penn Plaza plan will bring down the legendary Hotel Pennsylvania. The hotel, a 25-story, once-magnificent edifice built in 1919, has a rich history, an essential part of which is bound up with my father’s first hit as a songwriter.

Atomic A1 Motion Simulator

Racing into the virtual world, we have featured a number of high-end simulators that keep the adrenalin level rushing in utmost reality. The latest is the Atomic A1 Motion Simulator from UK-based JoyRide. Displayed at the GamesCom, the Atomic A1 is a small and adjustable simulation unit, which is made ideally for the living room space with a racing car seat, steering wheel, peddle controllers and a joystick.

The unit works by relaying in-game events to the user through force-feedback in the form of tilting, shaking and generally throwing the user about much as they would experience in a real vehicle. The A1 boasts impressive stats in this regard: the unit can pitch and roll up to 27 degrees, with ForceAssist technology promising to deliver maximum punch whilst minimising power usage. The A1 requires around 150w of power.

Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe Pebble Beach Special Edition

This year, the exclusive collector cars event, Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, that take place every year in Monterey, California since 1950 has turned 60. To celebrate the occasion properly, Rolls Royce Motor Cars has created a special edition Phantom Drophead Coupe unveiled by the brand’s CEO Torsten Muller-Otvos and Chief Designer Ian Cameron.

The unique model painted in Stillwater Blue, apparently in honor of the Stillwater Cove on the Monterey Peninsula, brings only visual changes to the regular production model. It also features a navy blue soft top lined with cashmere and is upholstered in a Crème Light leather interior. Interior wood fittings are composed of a striking cross-banded Santos Pallisander veneer contrasted with a silver pinstripe inlay.
