Richard Mille is largely known only among the billionaires and the occasional millionaires who can afford them. That’s also confirmed with its latest ultra-luxury timepiece for women. This new RM 07-02 from Richard Mille, nicknamed Automatic Pink Sapphire is an automatic watch crafted from sections of pink sapphire taken from a single block and is thus extremely difficult to machine.

The bezel, caseband and case back of the watch are made of solid blocks of Pink Sapphire. It takes almost 40 days for machines to precisely cut the gem, including 430 hours spent pre-forming the case components and 350 hours polishing the caseband/bezel/case back ensemble.
On the front, the watch dial is plated in mother-of-pearl, encircled by diamonds with an 18-karat rose gold bezel and hands.

The movement, a Richard Mille caliber CRMA5, can be partially seen through the pink sapphire, but the clearest view is through the back. Here a diamond encrusted rotor sits over the movement, showcasing the lavishness and beauty of the watch down to the last detail. All this are reasons why this watch is so exclusive and expensive – £678,571 (approx. $1.03 million).
