Ron Howard and his wife Cheryl have just listed their gorgeous mansion in Greenwich, Connecticut for $27.5 million. Oscar-winning producer, actor, and director and his family has called this sprawling estate home for more than two decades. The private lakefront estate has almost 33 acres of property and sits on the shores of Converse Lake an hour outside New York City. This secluded compound encompasses a 17,200 square foot neo-Victorian main mansion with seven fireplaces, six bedrooms and five full and four half bathrooms plus a separate 2,500 square foot two bedroom Craftsman-style guest cottage. There’s also an indoor saltwater swimming poola plus a vast indoor sports complex with a full-sized tennis court, a half-court basketball court and a spa, and even observatory silo with Meade telescope.
The property also has a greenhouse, flower and vegetable gardens, livestock and horse barns, paddocks and riding rings, and hiking trails. The Howards also keep miniature horses, donkeys, sheep, alpacas, chickens, ducks, dogs, (more than a dozen) cats, fish, a bird and a tortoise, some of which, listing details indicate, may be available for adoption by the estate’s next owner.
“We moved 3,000 miles away from the hub of Los Angeles, to raise our family here,” Ron Howard said about the property, according to Sotheby’s International Realty. “Whether we’re watching films in our theatre, walking the trails throughout our property, star gazing in our observatory, or just relaxing with friends and loved ones by the lake, Cheryl and I feel we’ve accomplished the goals we set when we began work on this place.”
Ron and Cheryl have decided to sell the home because all their children have moved out and because they’re constantly on the move, shuttling between homes in Paris, Los Angeles – where they own a spacious, ocean view condo in Santa Monica, and New York City.
