Kerry Hotel in Pudong, Shanghai has just broke the Guinness World Records’ record for the largest ball pit. This funny thing was part of the “Pink October” campaign aimed at raising awareness for breast cancer prevention. The hotel’s swimming pool 82 ft long by 41 ft wide (25 meters by 12.6 meters), was filled with a million pink and green balls, appropriately described by Kerry Hotel General Manager Peter Clarke as “one million wishes,” with the balls carrying hand-written wishes on them including one that read, “No hungry children.”
This special event, not only did break the world record, but also brought together 300 recovering cancer patients from the Shanghai Cancer Recovery Club to let loose in this funny ball sea. The balls were sold in advance throughout the month (they went for about $6 for 100), and the proceeds were donated to breast cancer education.
