On Sale: 2013 The Mrecedes-Benz SLS E-Cell isn’t a new car, it was unveiled this past summer, but its appearance in Detroit shows that Mercedes-Benz is serious about electric speed. This is a battery-powered version of Mercedes’s SLS supercar, one that uses four electric motors to produce 526 hp and 649 ft-lbs of torque. According to reports, the E-Cell charges to 60 mph in around four seconds.

RM’s Auctions America Sales Topped $13 Million

The new owner of a long-running classic car auction in northern Indiana considers its first edition of the traditional Labor Day weekend sale a success, a company spokeswoman said. Auctions America by RM bought the former Kruse Auction Park in Auburn in July and said more than 25,000 people attended the weekend event, during which sales topped $13 million. Kerrey Kerr-Enskat, director of public relations for RM Auctions, said the company spent $1 million on improvements to the park. This year’s auction had a 51.5-percent sell-through rate, according to a news release. The top car was a rare 1934 Duesenberg Model JN that sold at auction for $962,500 to an anonymous telephone bidder. Second place went to a 1929 Duesenberg Model J 7-Passenger that sold for about $357,500.
