After long-term thinking in a Jaguar decided to say ‘no’ to the project of commercialization of successor XJ220. However, it seems that the British still do not want to keep the car completely forgotten. The mysterious Jaguar slipped silently from garage through the crowd to the start of the race in electric mode, before firing up its 502 hp, supercharged 4-cylinder gas engine and electrifying the crowd. This all happened at the Goodwood Festival of Speed where C-X75 hybrid supercar from Jaguar presented to the public.C-X75 is one of the most unusual Jaguar presented in the last ten years, and the reason is simple – supercar concept boasted a revolutionary four-wheel drive with two electric motors and turbines. Powered by a combination of two electric motors and a gas engine, the C-X75 develops more than 850 total bhp and is capable of accelerating from 0-60 in less than six seconds and has a top speed of 220 mph.
When attract more than enough attention in the Jaguar concluded that the commercialization of this model is too expensive, and then instead of turbines, placed the four-cylinder into the car, and said that such a hybrid package cost about a million US dollars. This kind of money for a four-cylinder, was a not ot impressive to the customers, and in the Jaguar quickly decided to shut down the project. Jaguar has made five copies of the prototype C-X75. Three will keep and sell the two currently undisclosed price.
Volkswagen XL1 ConceptVolkswagen has been evolving its superefficient-vehicle concept since the 1-Litre car debuted in 2002, and the XL1 concept is the most recent variation on that theme. The Volkswagen XL1 Concept combines a two cylinder TDI engine, electric motor, lithium-ion battery pack and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission to achieve an staggering 0.9L/100 km, or just over 260 mpg.
Since it is designed as a plug-in hybrid, the XL1 prototype can also be driven for up to 21 miles (35 km) in pure electric mode, with zero emissions at point of use. The battery can be charged from a conventional household electric outlet. Naturally, battery regeneration is also employed to recover energy while slowing down and store as much of it as possible in the battery for re-use. In this case, the electric motor acts as an electric generator.
