Alfa Romeo TZ3 Corsa – Not a Design Exercise

The Alfa Romeo TZ3 Corsa is a purpose-built race car from the Zagato design house created to celebrate 100 years of Alfas and 90 years of collaboration between Zagato and Alfa Romeo. Alfa Romeo and Zagato have been partners since their beginning races at the Mille Miglia. Together, they achieved victories with the 1500 6C, the 1750 GS and the 8C 2300 Zagato of the Scuderia Ferrari. Other notable victories would be the 1964 12 hours of Sebring, the Targa Florio, the Nurburgring, and the 24 hours of Le Mans. These victories, and many more, illustrate the effective partnership between Alfa Romeo and Zagato.

The TZ3 is built around a mono shell carbon fiber tubular chassis, which is coupled to a tubular frame and an aluminum body shell. This allows the 4.3 m long, 1.9 m wide and 1.2 m high racer to tip the scales at a performance-guaranteeing 850 kg (1874 lbs).  At the heart of the vehicle, we find a 420 hp 4.2 liter V8 powerplant, which uses dry sump lubrication and allows manual adjustable calibration. The unit is mated to a six speed sequential gearbox, pushes the race car to 100 km/h (62 mph) in under 3.5 seconds and offers it a top speed in excess of 300 km/h (187 mph).

Cabestan proudly announces a partnership with Ferrari to celebrate the oldest and still existing Formula 1 racing team in the world, Scuderia Ferrari. With their debut in Formula 1 in 1950 (Grandprix of Italy), the Scuderia Ferrari team is active in Formula 1 for 60 years now. The Scuderia Ferrari One time piece by Cabestan has been created by Jean-François Ruchonnet, who is deeply passionate by high performance cars and car races, such as Formula 1.

The new Scuderia Ferrari One is clearly based on a design combination of the new Cabestan Nostromo and the existing Cabestan Winch Vertical Tourbillon. The design has of course been influenced by modern Ferrari design and technology. The middle bridge section is in carbon fiber, and I wouldn’t be surprised is the strap is made in materials used for seats and/or steering wheels.
