Famous Grouse 16 Year Old Vic Lee Edition for Asian Market

The Famous Grouse is set to launch a special edition 16 year-old double matured, blended Scotch whisky, expressly for the Asian travel retail market. This will be the first in a series of blends that will be produced annually for the Earth’s largest continent and available in key Asian airport locations including Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok from the beginning of June, as well as a range of international domestic markets.
British artist and illustrator Vic Lee has created a design for The Famous Grouse a limited edition bottling of a 16-year-old double-matured blended Scotch whisky that will only be available in Asia. This 16 year-old blend of eight different whiskies has been matured in first-fill Sherry casks and first-fill American Bourbon casks “to ensure a depth of flavour”. The expression is presented in a pink and purple, signed collectors’ pack designed by Vic Lee, an award-winning illustrator. Lee’s special pack replicates the rich legacy of the brand, and motivated by the ‘world of the grouse’ and the innate essentials of the whisky-making process. Ryan Hill, regional director, Asia travel retail, at brand-owner Edrington, said: “The travelling consumer in Asia is drawn by special packaging and limited edition product offers which emanate from trusted global brands, which are rich in heritage and which are stunning on the shelf. The Famous Grouse 16YO Vic Lee special edition ticks all those boxes and, therefore, we anticipate an enthusiastic response in store to this unusual double-matured blend. The expression will be available from June 2014. The Famous Grouse – World’s Largest Bottle of Whisky

World record for the largest bottle of whisky has been set in Crieff, Scotland a few days ago. The Famous Grouse as Scotland’s favourite whisky earned that flattering title by unveiling its 228-litre bottle of whisky on the ceremony of celebrating brand’s 107th birthday.
The bottle which stands at an impressive five feet five inches tall has been specially commissioned from Czech glass manufacturers BOMMA, as the only glass producer able to fulfill such an enormous request, and has travelled more than 1,200 miles from Svetla, near Prague. It holds the equivalent of 9,120 drams of whisky, and took three hours to be filled with help from a number of VIP guests and fans who attended the party. Glen Gribbon, Director of The Famous Grouse, commented: “We have been gearing towards this momentous day for a long time and it’s been extremely nerve-wracking for all involved. We are so thrilled to bring this record to the home of Scotch whisky and are relieved that it’s now official – we have the biggest bottle of whisky in the world! “The bottle will now be displayed at The Famous Grouse Experience so fans can visit and see the bottle for themselves.” The previous Guinness world record for the largest bottle of whisky has been set last year by Jack Daniel’s 184-litre bottle.
