Taylor Fladgate Debuts Limited Edition 1964 Single Harvest Tawny Port

Taylor Fladgate has earned a global reputation for producing wines of remarkable consistency and exceptional quality. Often described as the Rolls-Royce of the Porto industry, Taylor Fladgate is the only Porto company that has remained 100% family run throughout its history. Now, this one of the world’s best known-producers of Port debuts its extremely limited 1964 Single Harvest Tawny. The highly collectible Port is the first in an annual series of 50 year old wines set to roll out in the next few years. During its five decades of aging in oak casks, this wine has taken on an attractive pale mahogany color with olive amber highlights.

On the nose the wine displays fine oaky aromas and complex spicy, nutty, cigar box notes against a warm mellow background of butterscotch and molasses. The smooth velvety palate is lifted by a crisp acidity which gives the wine an attractive freshness in spite of its age. The finish is immensely long with rich, spicy, black pepper flavors lingering on the palate.

The Taylor Fladgate 1964 Single Harvest Tawny is attractively packaged in a wooden gift box, and the suggested retail price is $300.

The 1964 Single Harvest release will be followed a year later by the launch of an equally rare and exceptional 1965. Further annual releases of 50 year old Single Harvest Ports will follow.
