The Villa by Barton G. – The Versace Villa Transformed Into Luxury Hotel

The Villa By Barton G., known throughout the world as the former residence of fashion designer Gianni Versace, debuts in March as an oasis of luxury in the heart of South Beach with 10 luxury appointed suites and the Dining Room, an old-world fine dining restaurant located in the mansion on Ocean Drive.

The Villa has all the modern amenities, and you can spot Versace fabrics all over. The entrance greets you with a pool and terrace tiled in thousands of colorful mosaics, and fountains, frescoes and stained glass Roman palazzo style. The Dining Room provides for a very modern European menu that too served on Versace china.

Accommodations range from the stunning Medallion Suite (434 square feet) overlooking one of the most beautiful mosaics in the mansion to the amorous Venus Suite (1,428 square feet) with two private balconies perched above Ocean Drive and the mansion’s Thousand Mosaic Pool. The Villa Suite (1,174 square feet), once Versace’s bedroom, boasts a nine-foot double king-size bed, two balconies, seven closets, and a custom oversized shower.

Guests are welcomed by their dedicated British-trained and certified butlers who personally attend to them throughout their stay. In-room, poolside, and rooftop spa services are available, as is open access to the mansion’s two private lounges, lush Mosaic Gardens, and the Thousand Mosaic swimming pool.

The room prices start at $2,100.

The mansion, where Versace was gunned down in 1997, has had its up and downs. In 2000, Peter Loftin paid $19 million for the house, turning it into a private social club called Casa Casuarina, with memberships starting at $50,000. Later, the house was open for public tours, for $50. Mr. Loftin remains the majority owner, but the club and tours have been canceled under Barton G. Weiss’ management.
