CMB Shipyard’s Mystic Yacht to Debut at the Cannes Boat Show 2010

CMB Shipyard in Turkey have just delivered the 46m motor yacht Mystic, and the yacht will make her debut on the superyacht scene at the Cannes Boat Show from the 8-13 of September. Designed by Diana Yacht Design, superyacht Mystic is the first completion at the CMB Yachts yard and she is the largest composite yacht built in Turkey to-date.

A must have yacht for the luxury loving cruisers, the Mystic is built to RINA Class and is fully MCA LY2 compliant. Luxury touches are provided by fittings from high end brands including Swarovski crystal lighting, Ralph Lauren furniture, Miele domestic appliances and a Furuno navigational suite. Powered by twin 1450hp MTU enginesMystic will reach a top speed of 17 knots with a range of 4,000 nautical miles at 12 knots.

Since it was first mooted, we have followed Roman Abramovich’s superyacht Eclipse with interest. It was billed as the biggest yacht in the world by a distance, but after a recent independent grading it appears the yacht is indeed number one – but only just. The figure that has been espoused by the press and has been in general circulation ranked the vessel at 557 feet (169m).

Judging by Camper & Nicholsons’ newly-released Super Yachting Index a certain Russian oligarch has been exaggerating the size of his new gigayacht. Camper & Nicholsons, the leading international yacht broker established in 1782, has come out with its annual Super Yachting Index evaluating the state of superyachting for the previous year. And according to the their 2010 Super Yacht Index, Abramovich’s behemoth built by Blohm + Voss actually measures 533 feet (162,5m), a full 24 feet (7m) shorter than what was previously thought.

The yacht building industry of the United States will forever remember the date 8th August 2010. Launched on August 8th in a private ceremony at Derecktor’s Bridgeport, Connecticut yard, Cakewalk is, at 85.6 metres, the largest superyacht to be built in the United States since the 1930s and is also the largest yacht for her experienced owners. This steel, 17-knot full-displacement yacht was built to evoke the elegance of a previous age and full-scale hospitality and comfort are the driving force behind her design by Tim Heywood.

When the stunning six deck, 2998 gross ton vessel floated off Derecktors new 4000 ton dry-dock into the waters of Bridgeport harbor, it was the culmination of an effort never before seen in American yacht building. Several years and many, many thousands of skilled labor hours, along with tireless work from the owners’ team and Derecktors project group were needed to make the original vision a remarkable reality.

Dutch shipyard Feadship builds some of the world’s most coveted superyachts, in addition to Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich’s Ecstesea, the likes of Malcolm Forbes, Paul Allen and King Khalid of Saudi Arabia all commissioned luxurious vessels from them. With such names endorsing and vying for the shipyard, it definitely cannot be ignored. So when Feadship announced the launch of its largest yacht ever, we definitely had to take a look. Christened the Musashi, this 88 meter mega yacht is the second yacht in Feadship’s XL custom yacht series.

The massive ship’s steel hull was constructed by Feadship’s dedicated hull-building facility in Papendrecht, Netherlands, and was delivered to Makkum for outfitting. Her quadruple MTU 16V 4000 M90 marine diesel engines kick out a combined 14,600 hp, though the shipyard has not released any performance specs. The Musashi’s naval architecture and exterior design were created by Feadship’s own De Voogt Naval Architects, while the unnamed billionaire who commissioned the yacht hired Sinot Yacht Design to handle the interiors.

At 289 ft., the amazing Elena Ambrosiadou’s Maltese Falcon is the world’s largest, best designed, and most expensive sailing yacht. For now. Its builder Perini Navi is now hard at work on a much larger sailing megayacht, a 335-ft. craft dubbed the C.2157. Similar is styling to the Maltese, new luxury yacht also has three enormous self-standing, rotating masts and will be equipped with an even more impressive version of Perini Navi’s revolutionary carbon fibrer DynaRig sailing system. Topping the Maltese’s 15 sails and 25,791 sq. ft. sail area, the 335 will be capable of a maximum speed of 19.5 knots despite its impressive size.
