Maserati MC12 Stradale Signed by Michael Schumacher

Maserati MC12 Stradale Signed by Michael Schumacher

A tangible symbol of Maserati engineering and a worthy descendant of the company’s greatest racing machines, the Maserati MC12 was designed from the outset to conquer the FIA GT Championship. Thanks to its relationship with Ferrari, Maserati utilized the Enzo as a platform for build total of 50 road legal cars were made available for purchase (along with another additional five pieces that Maserati kept for themselves). Also borrowed from the Enzo was the 6.0-liter, 12-cylinder engine, which developed 630 hp. The MC12 boasted a 0 to 100 kph time of just 3.8 seconds and a top speed in excess of 205 mph. All this power was harnessed by Maserati’s Cambiocorsa 6-speed transmission.

Well, there’s still one special Maserati among them all. With a mileage of just 9800 km, a full service and necessary repairs were carried out in March 2009, totalling €40,000, photo documentation of which is available from EDO Competition Services, this special Maserati MC12 Stradale is available for sale on JamesList.

The GranTurismo Convertible is powered by the company’s top-level 4.7-liter V8, making 433-hp. This seems to indicate that unlike Maserati’s other models, the 405-hp  4.2-liter V8 will not be offered. What this also may indicate is that a possible GranCabrio S model could make even more power. After all, with the added weight of the necessary chassis stiffening required in a drop-top, the 433-hp will deliver performance on par with the base-engine coupe.

Maserati Granturismo S MC Sport Line Limited Edition

Only 12 of these limited-edition GranTurismos will be produced in Modena, all for Middle Eastern markets. The cars are being built in part to celebrate the 12 world titles Maserati has won in various racing events over the past five years, as well as the number of Middle Eastern cities where Maserati is present with a dedicated showroom: each car will feature a plaque with the name of the city to which it is committed.

Designed to enhance the sporty DNA of the Trident, the “MC Sport Line” sums up the experience acquired on the track by the Maserati Corse racing department, whose contribution to the design of the functional components has been invaluable. The world of motor racing also inspired Maserati’s designers when it came to styling, hence the extensive use of carbon fiber.
