Sidney Frank Importing Co. teamed up with the last independent, Irish-owned distillery in Ireland to launche the new look of Michael Collins Whiskies in the U.S. Cooley is considered to be the only distillery in Ireland to double distill its whiskeys and use peated malted barley. Procedure is almost the same when it comes to new 10 Years Old Single Malt.
This Irish Whiskey is is double-distilled in small, long-necked copper pot stills from malted barley and peated malted barley and matured in small bourbon seasoned casks for a minimum of 10 years. Michael Collins 10 Year Old Single Malt Irish Whiskey has a slightly sweet nose that is rich and complex with hints of ripe fruit, flowers and peat as well as a lingering light smokiness. Aromas of honey, citrus and malt give way to a delicate balance of these flavors with a fresh oak finish.
Michael Collins Irish Whiskeys, named after the Irish national hero, are handcrafted at the Cooley Distillery in County Louth on Ireland’s east coast. Made with locally harvested Spring barley, the whiskeys are distilled with pure local mountain spring water.
The new whiskey is packaged in the brand’s re-designed bottle. The only dark thing when we talk about 10 Years Old Single Malt is the label features the Celtic Trinity Swirl and the iconic silhouette of Collins, the renowned Irish patriot, on his bicycle, a familiar sight during the nation’s struggle for independence from England. Most important – the brightness comes inside.
Because of their way of making whiskey, and its quality, Cooley Distillery was Recognized by Malt Advocate as “2010 Distillery of the Year” and as “European Distillery of the Year” for the last three consecutive years by the International Wine and Spirit Competition Awards.
