BMW i3 has been presented, now is the turn on BMW i8. Family of BMW‘s new sub-brand “i” will in fact have a few more members. At the Frankfurt Motor Show this September BMW will have its official premiere of serial i8. Sporty 2 +2 Plug-in Hybrid, which will dispose of a combined power output of 266 kW/362HP and 570 Nm of torque will have combination of electric motor with 96 kW/131HP and 250 Nm, lithium-ion battery and 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbo gasoline engine with 170 kW/231HP and 320 Nm.
It should be noted that the gasoline engine drives the rear, and front-wheel drive electric motor. BMW i8 that weighs 1490 kg accelerates from 0 to 60mph in 4.5 seconds and the top speed is 155mph. On just electricity, the i8 is likely to have range of 20 miles. Length BMW i8 is 4689 mm wide by 1942 mm high 1293 mm, wheelbase is 2800 mm, the wheels are 20 inches tires 195/50 R20 and 215/45 R20, and air resistance coefficient is 0.26. Also, during 2014 it is expected a convertible version that was already announced in last year study.
