Looking for amazing safari experience but without sacrificing of luxury? Leobo Private Reserve, an exclusive, luxury bush retreat at South Africa’s Waterberg mountains is the right choice. Owned by eccentric IT millionaire Rory Sweet, this 12,000-acre reserve in the malaria-free region offers a plenty of thrilling activities such as quad bike racing, an exhilarating cross country polaris drive, helicopter paintball, hippo camping or socializing with reserve’s crocodile, Stevie. Other things to do there: be competitive at clay pigeon shooting, dive off the jetty and go swimming in the dam, go fishing for bass and trout in the dams or admire the numerous Bushman paintings and uncover some of Waterberg’s archaeological history. The star attraction is The Observatory(a four bedroom private house), where a NASA-grade telescope provides breathtaking views of the heavens. A chandelier made from hippo bones hangs above a table and below a ceiling stitched together from wildebeest hides.
The Leobo Lodge provides extra accommodation up to 18 guests in eight private cottages overlooking the Palala Valley. All of the cottages are en-suite and have their own private deck with spectacular views. Other amenities at the reserve include a heated infinity pool and rooftop Jacuzzi, a BBQ area, a library and several lounge areas with cosy fireplaces, as well as table tennis and a pool table.
