The collection contains pictures, from early life, wide-eyed shots of Norma Jeane in 1945, to raw, sensual photos taken just two weeks before her death, will be offered throughout 2014 in photograph and contemporary art auctions.
“This collection is well curated by a private collector and highlights her entire career from her early modeling to press prints from The Seven Year Itch to contemporary works by artists Barbra Kruger and Robert Silvers, and iconic images like Douglass Kirkland’s series for Look Magazine of Marilyn, Under the Sheets,” said Rachel Peart, Director for Photographs at Heritage. “Heritage will offer more than 200 images from the collection. Marilyn is such an icon and the images continue to be as stunning today as they were 60 years ago.”
