A Paris-based artist, philosophy graduate, musician, and composer with the moniker Simon has created the rebellious NUMBERS project as a snub to the art world. It is, in a nutshell, pictures (on canvas) with their price written on them. If believing Simon, NUMBERS is a reflection about the price of art. It is also about giving anyone access to a unique piece of art.

For £255, for example, you will get the figure £255 printed and framed. By ordering and completing a transaction, a NUMBERS is manufactured and listed in a database, with its own serial number. This database is the core of NUMBERS, and stands for an unbreakable proof of authenticity. All issues are unique, but indeed all amounts can only be purchased once. And just a word to the wise: £1 billion is already taken. Simon has bought that one for himself (although surely he’s open to offers).
Simon’s main idea is to bring art possession into everybody’s life. In his own words: “Art is at the heart of the question of pricing. In that aspect, the price for Art is a chimera. Any attempt to define Art’s value by a price is irrelevant.”
