Extremely rare version of the 1998 Porsche 911 GT1 Strassenversion sold for $5,665 million on Amelia Island.
Only 20 units GT1 Strassenversion model are manufactured for street use in order to fulfill all the norms of homologation that permit GT1 Evolution Series participation in the Le Mans 24 hours. As a result, the car is based on the street version of the race, not a simply street car with a rollbar and lightweight wheels.
1998 Porsche 911 GT1 Strassenversion
Under the bodywork, 911 GT1 Strassenversion comes with twin-turbo engine that holds 3.2 liters of displacement, six-cylinder in-level, water-cooling, 544hp at 7000 r/min. and 600 Nm of torque at 4,250 r/min. While these figures may not seem like much ghostly in 2017, they certainly allow this street racer to hit 100 on the scale in just 3.7 seconds and reaches a top speed of 310 km/h.
The car comes with chassis number 005, and was only the second copy which was produced. He was originally delivered to a German buyer, who drove it only 4,400 km.
In October 2003, the GT1 was sold to Don Wallace from Florida, where it remained until 2009 when was bought by a collector from the same country. In the end, this car was purchased by another German national, so it came back to the country, and then return again to America last year.
