Sennheiser introduced new HD 660 S – the ideal open, dynamic headphone for the passionate audiophile.
At first glance it is difficult to distinguishhe HD 660 S from the German audio company’s flagship pair – HD 650s. Despite wearing a new matt-black finish, they still feature their predecessor’s elliptical ear cups, thickly cushioned headband and replaceable ear pads. But the real difference in this new model is on the inside.

According to Sennheiser, the new transducer offers improved control of diaphragm movements, with the improved acoustic design aiming to minimise distortion.
Each pair of Sennheiser 660s is hand-matched and tested so that the left and right ear cup produce near-enough identical sound (within a tight tolerance of +/- 1dB). Also significant in this update is a lowering of the impedance, down to 150 Ohm, which means you now have a better shot at powering the 660s without the need for a dedicated headphone amplifier.

The HD 660 S has been created to enjoy music in supreme quality and from many different audio sources. Thanks to its low impedance it also offers reference-class fidelity with hi-res mobile players. Naturally, the HD 660 S reveals its full potential when it is connected to the balanced outputs of a dedicated headphone amplifier such as the HDV 820 or to the balanced output of a mobile digital audio player.
