Two years after America’s first ‘Beer Spa’ opens its door in Oregon, “Hop in the Spa” which is owned by Michael Boyle have reached an agreement to open a brand new venue downtown Roanoke, Virginia.
“Yeah. This’ll be the second beer spa in America,” said Boyle, “Everybody thought it would be a bit of a fad. But it hasn’t been. We’ve been consistent since the day we opened.”
This Beer Spa is going inside a building next to an old firehouse downtown. It also happens to be down the street from the Deschutes tasting room.
Demolition is underway upstairs to make way for a few hotel rooms. Downstairs, he says the space will include a massage area, salt room and four soak tubs with “hop inspired therapies.” You won’t be bathing in the usual IPA or Heinekin though, instead the spa will use a special combination of hops, barley and grains.
Michael said the spa will open in the beginning of June. The hotel rooms should be ready to go in the beginning of July.
