And here’s number 200. The iconic 1970 Porsche 911s formerly owned by the Steve McQueen and featured in his epic movie Le Mans spurs a lively bidding war in the room and on the phone, selling for a record $1.25 million hammer price.

McQueen played a bad-ass, car-racing man’s man in the movies. In real life, he was a bad-ass, car-racing man’s man. That’s why having his stamp of approval on a real-world vehicle can bump its value so dramatically. The 911, seen in the opening scenes of the racing epic, LeMans, was King of Cool’s personal car throughout the filming and has racked up a total of 112,000 miles over the last 41 years. We don’t know who the final bidder was, but we do know she’s women from the States, and she had to bidding to $1.375 million (price is with buyers premium) from a modest starting price of $200,000.
