110 Carat Cora Sun-Drop – The World’s Largest Yellow Pear-Shaped Diamond
The 110-carat Cora Sun-Drop Yellow Pear-Shaped diamond was unveiled at the London’s Natural History Museum few days ago. The Sun-Drop is roughly the size of a woman’s thumb and is largest vivid yellow pear-shaped diamond known in the world.
The Sun-Drop, which was mined in Africa, has been lent to the Museum by Cora International, the diamond company that crafted the original rough diamond. It will be on display from 25 February for up to 6 months. Jerry Hall was a lucky guest dazzled by the 110-carat Cora Sun-Drop diamond when it was unveiled in the Museum’s Vault gallery.
The Sun-Drop is yellow because there is a very small amount of nitrogen in its carbon structure. Coloured diamonds are extremely rare in nature. Becouse of its rarity, this diamond is exposed in the Museum’s Vault gallery. The Vault is a permanent gallery at the Museum dedicated to some of nature’s most rare, unique and valuable treasures.
The Cora Sun-Drop is among the most stunning diamonds in the world, so rare that it is almost impossible to determine its value.
