Daphne Guinness wearing Contra Mundum (Photo: Nick Knight)
Contra Mundum – diamond encrusted glove was created by fashion designers Daphne Guinness in collaboration with the designer’s jewelry Shaun Leane. The idea for diamond glove was born from the passion for Guinness armor.
Guinness took over two years to create and design the armoured glove Contra Mundum, which is latin for against the world. This piece of jewelry is crafted from white gold and platinum and features over 5,000 diamonds arranged in bird formation. The glove is moulded to fit Daphne’s own hand. It is a unique accessory of its kind whose appeal is also highlighted by the beautiful pictures taken by photographer Nick Knight.
Diamond glove is on view and for sale at White Cube in London, while a retrospective of the artist Daphne Guinness on View is scheduled from September 16 to January 7, at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. [Show Studio]
