No more Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. New replacement arrives in a form of 2013 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT. Coupe and Roadster variants are expected to be available in the middle of November 2012 replacing SLS AMG. Pricing for the U.S. market has not been announced. But when the car goes on sale in Germany in October, it will start at the U.S. equivalent of $254,548 for the GT coupe version and $264,907 for the GT roadster.
Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT has a maximum power output 583 hp thanks to a V8 engine displacing 6.3L. The engine also produces 479 pound-foot of torque at 4750 RPM. The power and torque output of the engine can push the car from 0 to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds. The car also has an electronically limited top speed of 197 mph. All the power the engine produces is sent to the rear wheels via a recalibrated AMG Speedshift DCT 7-speed transmission.
“Thanks to newly developed gear change logic and optimized transmission control, it has been possible to shorten reaction time significantly during shifts,” said Mercedes-Benz in a statement.
Some improved changes on its interior were done, including a new Designo style package. This optional extra comes in three different color combinations – in both single- and two-tone finishes – and features only the finest leather surfaces with contrast stitching and a diamond quilt pattern on the seats and doors. In addition, plenty of other optional goodies are also available, including carbon fiber parts for both the interior and exterior, carbon ceramic brakes, a Bang & Olufsen sound system and different wheel options.
