The shoes were created using a unique strass method and a new approach to crystal application, using four sizes of crystals in 11 different colors. Crystals were hand-placed in colorful clusters or all over the shoe, against materials such as a jet black veau velours and roccia python. From the French phrase for “moonlight”, the hand applied strass emulates the effect of moonlight dancing over flowers in a field, with brilliant orbs of obscured, multifaceted light conjuring romance.

The meticulously hand-placed “clair de lune” crystals adorn a full range of sneakers, flats, pumps and platforms, including So Kate, Dorissima, Pigalle Follies Flat, Louis Woman and Boat Flat in the women’s collection as well as three men’s sneaker styles, Gondolastrass, Louis Strass, New No Limit.
Katie Rodgers of Paper Fashion collaborated with Christian Louboutin with a series of whimsical hand painted watercolor illustrations. They’re just as magical as the shoes.
