In the framework of the 55th Salone del Mobile in Milan French Baccarat crystal manufactory organized an exhibition of his new series of chandeliers. Called Lumières out of the Box, this exhibition has been created in collaboration with renowned subject designers: Arik Levy, Hans Van Bentem and Marcel Wanders. The intricate luminaries were suspended inside oversized crates, a reference to the original versions of the wooden boxes in which baccarat chandeliers were once stored while traveling to different locations.

Marcel Wanders created for Baccarat lamp Le Roi Soleil — a variation on the classic chandeliers with shades, however, instead of the usual shape of chandelier she is clothed in a spherical shape. In addition, the designer suggested a chandelier to the tea table Antique New Table with a table top from plastic on a stem of crystal details. Arik Levy gave crystal elements with more modern forms are his creations lines remind Tuile de cristal chandelier-cascade and colored textile diffusers 70-ies.

Hans Van Bentem presented vase-Medicis XXL floor lamp adorned with 13,000 octagons, the piece blends classicism and avant-garde to reinterpret the original marble medicis vase of the classical period and its crystal version made by baccarat in 1909.

As well as the artist collaborations, Baccarat has worked with Maurice Ostro to create the ‘Blue Topaz’- the first chandelier that integrates over 700 blue ostrotopaz gemstones and dedicated to passionate collector Max Ostro. Lumières out of the Box is on show during Milan Design Week from april 12 – 17 at the Accademia Di Brera (Fine Arts Academy of Brera) in Milan.
