United Arab Emirates are known for megalomaniac projects – from the tallest building in the world, to the artificial islands in the shape of palm trees. Now they are planning to make a giant mountain to collect so much-needed water. Scientists are working on a project of artificial mountain that creating clouds, which will then be “seeded” to produce rain on demand.
Plans are still in their infancy, so details were not disclosed about how tall the mountain would be or where it would be built – let alone how much the project would cost.
Experts of the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR) in Colorado currently working on a detailed analysis of the model which, according to the lead researcher Roelof Bruintjes, costs $400,000.
‘We will have a report of the first phase this summer as an initial step.’
All we know that this project could provide water for bustling cities such as Dubai.
