A private collector from the United Kingdom sold at the auctionthe teapot and got £575,000 for it.
The man bought a teapot with a broken handle and without a lid at the auction in 2016. The seller told him that the teapot was made between 1766 and 1800 in the County of Middlesex.
In the whole story, it would not be surprising if the collector did not pay the teapot only £15. The buyer assumed that the teapot was a work of the famous “Isleworth pottery.”

Since studying ceramics for thirty years, the customer was able to estimate the real value of the teapot.
The expert from the auction company Woolley and Wallis in Salisbury found that the teapot was made by potter iconic British potter John Bartlam, whose products are very rare on the market.

So far, only six Bartlam’s porcelain items have been found. That’s why the teapot has reached the price of £575,000 at auction.
Believed to be the only teapot example of Bartlam’s work, this teapot with distinctive blue and white palm tree design will now be shipped across the Atlantic to be displayed at the US museum.
